Up until 2004 the Foundation was able to sustain itself on a year to year basis with the funds raised in David's hometown of Victoria, BC. Since we were still only assisting British Columbian families we were able to maintain our assistance level but could not look at expanding the territorial boundaries. Thanks to a very successful event in Vancouver in 2005, which raised an amazing $2 million dollars, we were able to begin looking after families from BC to Manitoba. In September of 2006 we returned to Vancouver and raised another $2 million dollars. Two months later our event in Niagara Falls raised $3.3 million dollars which enabled us to become a national organization and establish our endowment fund. The Foundation now helps children and their families from coast to coast. In 2006 we provided financial assistance to 90 families across Canada and our numbers continue to rise weekly. Since our beginnings in 1986 we have assisted 345 families. In spite of the huge increase in registrations, the David Foster Foundation office still only has one full time employee and relies on its many dedicated volunteers at "event time".
